Our Approach
My Time’s approach and philosophy is based on the integration of Western and Eastern therapies particular cognitive humanistic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Morita therapy (Japanese Buddhist), African based therapy and Islamic psychology.
Mind <>Body<>Environment<>Beliefs & Values
The central belief within the My Time approach is that all human beings have the same basic ingredients of mind and body that we live within an environment (the world about us) and that we are psychically born into a family, culture or society that we inherit core beliefs and values. These key four factors are interdependent and simply can be described what makes us who we are.
The Essential ingredients that make the Whole Human
My Time has an integrative approach that is underpinned by Mindful Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred approaches combined with an understanding of cultural and faith needs. This is best described as a Cognitive-Humanistic approach that centres on the specific needs of the client and finding the best approach that enables the client to achieve their goals and reduce depression and anxiety and other symptoms relating to their mental and physical well being.
My Time puts strong emphasis on the combination of Mind, Body, Environment, Beliefs and Values and believes that harmony between these five core aspects is essential to development and growth of the individual. Effective signposting is also an essential ingredient of My Time’s practice and Information, Advice and Guidance is a key element so that clients can effectively move on once they are ready to end therapy. My Time has incorporated faith and pastoral counselling such as Muslim counselling methodology into its practice as a way of engaging and meeting needs of clients.
