A dissemination event to discuss barriers to work and education faced by BME Women

16 Oct 2007

Over the last few months My Time has joined East Birmingham Community Forum Ltd and Sparkbrook Women Together Centre in combating discrimination and inequalities in work and education. As part of a European social fund iniative we helped train five BME women in community research skills to help facilitate a research project exploring the barriers that impede women from East Birmingham venture into further education. The purpose of the project was to enquire into what barriers BME women themselves felt were impeding them from entering further education and progressive employment. According to goverment stastics East Birmingham and particulary Washwood Heath are some of most socially deprived areas in Birmingham. Working closely with local organisations My Time tried to find out why it is that the BME community in that area struggles in comprison to other areas to seek adult education and progressive employment opportunities.

My Time has developed a therapeautic approach incorporating certified educational and employment advice with award winning confidence building services and counselling to help individuals find progressive and positive routes into employment and education.
